The Kashmir Mountain Battery (part of the Rajah of Kashmir’s Army and not a unit of the British Indian Army) going into position at Nyangao. The sterling performance of Kashmiri infantry earlier in the campaign led the British to request the battery’s services for the 1917 campaign. This battery performed outstanding service in Linforce. Frequently, the Kashmir Mountain Battery deployed their four 2.75in mountain guns up front on the infantry firing line and aimed their fire directly against Schutztruppe machine-gun positions.
